Instrumentation:
31-tone tubulongs

Tubulongs are a percussion instrument made of conduit tubes cut to various sizes, to produce the required pitches and arranged in a keyboard-like pattern. Several of them have been built "home-made," especially by performers and composers in Southern California. The special sound effects (particularly its slowly decaying tone) have been well used by Glen Prior in his compositions for this instrument, the only ones that are available in print.
