A piece for viola solo by one of the foremost American microtonal composers. Sims employs a scale derived from the harmonic series embedded in the structure of a 72-tone equal division of the octave (every semitone step divided into 6 equal microtonal steps). —and, as I was saying, … was written at the request of Aaron Picht, who first played it in a recital at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, Mass., in 1979.
